Who we are?

Isn’t that the question? My name is Luke Richter. I was born in the Southern Tier of New York State and lived there from birth until I left for collage.

I attended college at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio - about half an hour south of Cleveland. In college I double majored in Archeology and Religion; I played football for a year; I played Rugby sporadically; did well enough in my studies; and graduated on time.

After college I attended Law School at Rutgers State University in Camden, New Jersey. I loved law school more than my grades would suggest and living in and around Camden was a life changing experience.

From Law School I moved to Vermont where I eventually put my law degree to use.

“Who we are?” has always been the question. And I didn’t really know that answer until I started working at the Community High School of Vermont at the Burlington Campus in about 2004 - the Corrections school. When I began working there I started to understand “who we are.” I began to understand that for me I wanted to help. But I also began to understand “who we are” as a society through simple observation; I could see the need for advocacy; I understood that it does in fact take a village . And suddenly all of my past experiences started to fit in place - my failures being the most important lessons of all.

And so that’s the answer: My name is Luke Richter, I am a family man - I love my wife and two young children. I am a proud resident of Alburgh where I serve on the School Board. And I am an advocate - I am not afraid of a fight and I am not afraid to lose if the fight’s worth it. My name is Luke Richter and I want to fight for our district.
